Holotropic Breathwork

I know of no work that so well incorporates the findings of Freud, Jung and Rank, adding fresh insights, which the methods of those psychotherapists could never have achieved. I do not doubt that many others working in this field would find Dr. Grof´s discoveries a basis for a whole new strategy of research.

Holotropic Breathwork grew out of Dr. Stanislav Grof’s radical understanding of the mechanisms of action demonstrated by modalities of the human potential movement that emerged during the 1960’s. In this section are numerous documents describing the trajectory of breathwork’s development by Dr. Stanislav Grof and his wife Christina, up to the present day when sessions are being conducted in many countries of the world and in all fifty states.

The documents include; a definition of Holotropic Breathwork; session descriptions; underlying principles and ethical considerations; a biography of Dr. Stanislav Grof with a bibliography; a 288 page overview of his life’s work; and a video of Dr. Grof describing the potential of breathwork to expand our consciousness.

The section concludes with a selection of writings about Grof’s work by such noted authors as mythologist Joseph Campbell and religious scholar Houston Smith.
